Well hello there!

Need to wipe the cobwebs out once in a while and flush the toilets.  How's it hangin'?

Happy birthday!!!

It has come to my attention that I have not made an appearance here on LJ in a very long time. Since last December, to be precise. It's weird, I miss the online friendships I've made here, but just can't seem to figure out if LJ has any place in my life anymore. FB must distract me too much. That and shiny objects.

So my peeps, how's it hanging here?

LJ Who?

Wow, I haven't posted here since March?!? Huh. LJ has apparently fallen off the radar for me. Too many other distractions, and just not enough time.

Is anyone even still alive around here? Beuller?

Heard last night that a friend of ours lost his battle with cancer yesterday morning,  leaving behind a wife and 2 young daughters.  *sigh*  So sad.  He was about 4 months younger than me (42).  Way too young to die.  Next Wednesday is the 19th anniversary of my mother's death.  She was 52, and I thought that was too young.  What's really depressing is that they are delaying the funeral until Tuesday, since Monday is his youngest daughter's birthday (8, I think).  That's not going to scar her or anything.

Why can't we transfer bad shit like this to people who really deserve it?  Like Sarah Palin, or that atrocious Rebecca Black?  The world would be a better place, I'll tell you that.

Enjoy every day people, for it can all end far too soon.  And I really believe this life is all you get, so make the best of it.  Now, go hug someone you love.

2010 book list

Not a bad year - 65 books read.  Granted, there's a lot of trite crap on there, but there are also some good novels.  Lauren kicked my ass with 82 books, but that's to be expected.

A tiddy bit nipple

Woke up this morning to -20 degF with a wind chill of -47. Methinks I'm not leaving the house today.

Holiday Doldrums

I've been quiet, but always present here on LJ.  It still fills a role in my life that FB just can't, so I'm sticking around, even though each month it gets more and more quiet.

The last few days to Christmas are always pretty useless.  Every year I try to convince myself I'll get some good stuff done since the phone doesn't ring as much.  But alas, I just end up killing time on the internet.  If I didn't have to set a good example, I'd just head home.

We're hoping to get up to the mountains for the weekend, assuming the weather cooperates.  Sounds like they've received 5+ ft of snow up there.  That could make it difficult.  I guess we'll find out tomorrow.  Unfortunately, my dad backed out on Christmas since they were having difficulties finding a time that would work for his wife's family.  They came up last year, so this time around we didn't get pole position.  Oh well.  I think some friends are going to join us instead.  If so, much drinking and hijinks will ensue.  Or we'll just get plastered and pass out.  It's all good.

*yawn* must seriously stop this or I will pass out right here on my desk.

Pepe le pew

We damn near got skunked this morning on the bike ride into work.  He had his tail up and ready to spray, and we rode past him only about 5 feet away, but for whatever reason he decided not to.  That really would have put a damper on my day.
